What's more, Jackson, Walsh and Boyens have since confirmed that they are in talks with Warner Bros., New Line and overall rightsholders Embracer Group about the direction of the franchise.Lord of the Rings movie fans who assume the character Gollum is simply the creation of some software, a man at a keyboard, and a group of animators are in for a bit of a surprise: Gollum is more human (and hobbit) than might be imagined. Tolkien's novels not depicted in either of Jackson's trilogies. and New Line announced they were developing a slate of Middle-earth movies, which are expected to focus on material from J.R.R. and New Line acquired the rights to produce new films based on both that property and The Hobbit in February 2023. The renewed public interest in The Lord of the Rings-related movies comes after Warner Bros. "I think that there are so many other potential Middle-earth projects which could come about, and if doing them, I would, of course, jump at the chance to have that relationship rekindled," he said. As such, it's hardly surprising that Serkis has made it clear he'd consider another Middle-earth movie with Jackson at the helm at least twice now, having made similar comments in a March 2023 interview.
